2. Data Collection and Processing
When accessing our website, technical information is automatically collected by the web server in so-called server log files. This information may include:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Host name of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- IP address
These data are collected solely to ensure the smooth operation of the website and for statistical purposes. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in security and stability of the website). No merging of these data with other data sources takes place.
3. Web Analytics with Matomo
We use the open-source web analytics software Matomo to statistically evaluate the use of our website and to improve our services. Processing is based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Matomo is operated on servers under our own control. The software is configured in a privacy-friendly manner:
- IP addresses are anonymized before being stored (the last bytes are removed), so that they cannot be linked to individuals.
- No cookies are set for tracking purposes.
- The data collected is used exclusively for statistical analysis of website usage and for the improvement of our services.
- The data is not shared with third parties.
4. Contact
If you contact us (e.g., by email), your information will be stored for the purpose of processing the request. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (handling your request) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in efficient communication). These data will not be shared without your consent.
5. Supporters and Community Sounding Board
On our website, you may register as a Supporter or as a member of the Community Sounding Board. When clicking the respective button, your locally installed email program will open with a pre-filled email template.
If you send this email, we process the data you provide (in particular name, email address, affiliation, and optionally a personal website) for the purpose of managing your request. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
For technical administration of these requests, we use GitLab.com (Issue and Service Desk system), a service provided by GitLab Inc. Personal data may be processed on servers outside the European Union. Processing is carried out on the basis of appropriate safeguards pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR.
If you provide your explicit consent, we will publish your name, affiliation, and optionally your website on our website as part of the public list of Supporters or members of the Community Sounding Board. Publication is based on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and may be revoked at any time with future effect.
Your data will be stored as long as your respective role (Supporter or Community Sounding Board member) exists or until you request deletion, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

You have the right to:
- Access your personal data,
- Request correction or deletion,
- Request restriction of processing,
- Object to the processing,
- Withdraw consent at any time,
- Request data portability,
- File a complaint with the appropriate supervisory authority.
